It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Lind Weidenbacher, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who left us peacefully at the age of 88. She is survived by her children; Wayne (Suzanne), David (Harriott), Steven (Kathy) and Donna (Kevin Imbraguglio); her grandchildren; Drew (Megan), Rebecca Mohon (Matthew) and Rachel Wiley (Eric Kennedy); 9 great-grandchildren: William, Colton, Blaise, Rowan, Piper, Charley Kate, Margot, Wyatt and Bruce; her sister, Carol Gemar and extended family. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jefferson Weidenbacher Jr.; her parents, Andrew & Freda Lind; her siblings, Charles Lind and Lawrence Lind.
Born and raised in New Orleans, she carried her vibrant spirit of her hometown which included St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Port & Burgundy St) to her family’s new life in lower St Bernard Parish (“down da road”). Together, Mary and Jeff built a life filled with love, family, and traditions. Mary became a hardworking and valuable employee for many years at Sears & Roebuck. Her greatest joy came from being a mother to her children and their spouses, a grandma to her grandchildren and their spouses and her great-grandchildren. Everyone adored her for her home-cooked meals which included affectionately named “Grandma" (red) beans," "Grandma" (pecan) pies" and "Grandma mashed potatoes." These dishes were always made with love and are now treasured memories to carry on with her twin granddaughters, Rachel & Rebecca. Mary will also be remembered for her many, many “Grandma kisses" and her warmth. Mary was a proud and loyal supporter of LSU, the New Orleans Saints, the New Orleans Pelicans and WWE wrestling. She always cheered them on with heart and enthusiasm. Mary was fiercely loyal to her family, her sports teams and had the ability to make everyone feel at home. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, comfort, great cooking and unconditional love. Mary was the total package of what a wife, Mom and Grandma should be!
