I worked for Mr. Fred and Ms. Nella for 4 yrs in high school and college and for an additional 3 yrs, on and off, during seminary.  Both Fred and Nella were tough as nails but tender in affection.  They never missed a Saturday Mass and they were good and upright people.  They were like a second family to me.  They showed me mercy in compassion at times that I should have been more justly treated and they believed in the people that worked for them.  They were great role models.  I will miss them both.  They are in my thoughts and prayers, as well as the family they leave behind.  Well done, good and faithful stewards.  You will be remembered this week in the Eucharist I celebrate.

So sorry to just hear of your mothers passing. Nella and Fred and you three were great neighbors and friends. We had a few great visits to the German Beer Garden at the Worlds Fair in New Orleans, and enjoyed their company and friendship on many other occasions. Very sorry to not being part of the memorial service.--Ed Collier

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Nella. She and Fred were a big influence to me and my brothers. We all worked at Chick Fil A in Lake Forest Mall and were not only struck by the love between Fred and Nella, but also the work ethic they helped instill in us. I will forever be grateful for their guidance and take solace in knowing that they are together again.

Alfred, Silvia, Linda (and families), please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of your mom. We have fond memories of Ms. Nella and she will be missed by all who knew her.

John Arton was kind enough to call us and tell us of Nella's passing; we have so many fond memories of Fred and Nella after we moved to Lake Forest Estates in 1983. It was a wonderful neighborhood, made even more wonderful by Nella and Fred.  We loved to take our two children and bother Fred and Nella at the Chick-fil-A in Lake Forest Mall as we watched move furiously serving patrons at noon on Saturdays.  We never got the timing right!

Although the years have passed and we moved away in 1997, Mallory and I still talk about the wonderful neighbors.  Nella and Fred are at the top of the list.  Our prayers are with the family; you are so fortunate to have had such great parents and grandparents.  Nella is now with God and Fred.

Sylvia, Linda and Alfred and your precious families, Sylvia called and let me know of Nella's passing.  I am so very sorry....I know each of you will miss her more than words can say.  I am confident that she and Fred have had a grand reunion and are together once again - I imagine they are dancing and celebrating.  Please accept my sincere condolences.  I loved your folks..they had purposeful and significant lives.  Love to all, Craig Perry
