Raymond Shawn Hendon

Raymond Shawn Hendon passed away from ARDS (a complication from lung cancer surgery) on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the age of 51. He is survived by his husband Keith Napolitano which he married on August 14, 2015 after 15 wonderful years together. Shawn is survived by his brother Kirk Hendon and wife Kathy of Groves, TX, his sister Suzanne Young and husband David of Houston, TX, his brother Tim Hendon of Austin, TX and his stepfather Ora Oubre of Port Arthur, TX. He is also survived by his children; Amanda Quinn, Logan Hendon and Mason Hendon.

Shawn is preceded in death by his parents Reginald Hendon and Margaret Hendon Oubre, his brother Gene Hendon and many aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Shawn was born on December 4, 1964 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, TX. and was a 1983 graduate of Bishop Byrne High School. He went on to attend Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Shawn was an employee of Walmart for 10 years and in his last position he was Co-Manager of the Tchoupitoulas Store.

Shawn absolutely loved to cook and entertain. His home was filled with friends constantly enjoying his incredible meals and vibrant personality. To know Shawn was to love him. To many he was referred to as “Sunshine”. Shawn never met a stranger. He loved deeply, he was compassionate and kind to everyone he met. His death leaves a loss deeply in all of our hearts. He grieved the loss of his Mama so very deeply and is now reunited with her. Shawn will be forever remembered and missed by his friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA. A visitation will follow at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA from 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM. Interment will be private.
