Robert James Juan

Robert James Juan, 59, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 10th. He was born on January 4, 1956, in New Orleans to the late Clayton Sr. and Louise Weidt Juan and was a resident of Arabi, St. Bernard, and most recently Slidell. He was a retired fireman of St. Bernard Parish with 25 years of service and also worked for over 40 years at New Orleans Clerks and Checkers Union Local No. 1497.

He was a beloved husband for 29 years to Avis Melerine Juan, who is survived in his death. He was the loving father of Leonard Carollo, III, and Ashlie Juan Seghers (Jonathan). He was the proud grandfather of Leonard Carollo, IV. Robert was the brother of Clayton “Lenny” Juan Jr. (Darlene), Michael Juan (Brigitte), the late Catherine Juan Neyland (Rickey), JoAnn Juan Garnand (Michael), and Wallace Juan, and the godfather of Chantelle Garnand Wallace (Ryan). He was the son-in-law of the late Alfred and Lucille Hernandez Melerine, and the brother-in-law of Alfreda Melerine Pizani (Huey). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Robert was an avid golfer and a member of the Vern’s Golf Club for many years, and we know that he will now have the best view of The Masters. He will be deeply missed but will be forever remembered in our hearts and memories. In lieu of flowers, Masses and donations to the American Cancer Society are asked to be considered.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, August 15, 2015, starting at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass following at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, Louisiana. Mr. Juan will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
