Vernell Phillips Faust

Slidell, LA – Vernell Phillips Faust, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. Vernell, affectionately known as “Ms. V.”, made her way in 1965 from the small island of Guanaja, Honduras to New Orleans where she met and married Tyrone G. Faust. Coming from a humble background, she was very empathetic and sensitive to the needs of others. Vernell possessed a very strong work ethic and was meticulous in everything that she did. She had a lively, fun spirit and a sweetness which touched everyone.

Vernell is predeceased by her parents, Hazel Haylock and Ernest Phillips, and her sister, Marcy Haylock McNab. Vernell is survived by her dear friend and former husband, Tyrone G. Faust, brother, Percy Phillips (Alice Phillips) and her three children, Adele P. Faust (Glenn Williams), Louis T. Faust (Ajsa Nikolic) and Janeen Coble (John Coble-deceased); Grandchildren, Lina Faust, Max Faust, Christina Coble Smith and Jacqueline Coble LeBlanc; Great grandchildren, Layla LeBlanc, Amelia LeBlanc, Emerson Smith and Jaxon Smith; Sister-in-Law, Donna Mae Loy (Vincent); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home located at 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette, on Friday, March 20, 2026. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial.
