Wanda Forbes Nappier

Wanda Nappier, a native of North Carolina who created a home in New Orleans, left her earth side sunrises peacefully surrounded by her sons and their families on May 18, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Hazel Forbes, and her siblings, Joetta Shelton and Teddy Forbes Sr. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Crystal) and Christopher (Stacey), and grandchildren Timothy, Andrew (Caitlin), Tyler, and Aidan. She was also an Aunt to Teddy Jr. and Jeffrey Forbes.

After planting roots in New Orleans, she selflessly dedicated her life to providing for her two sons, Mike and Chris. A woman of few words, she meant what she said and she said what she meant. As a single mother and a nurse, she served those around her with purpose and care. A stoic pillar of strength for her family and community. Whether a birthday celebration for one of her grandchildren, a momentous occasion, or just a backyard crawfish boil, she enjoyed being with those she loved. Though she had a quiet, private resilience, she held tight to her family and friends. A collector of many treasures and a passionate laugher, her memory will live on in the strength she gifted her most prized treasures of all, her sons and the families they created from the men she molded them to be. The love of a mother is a force to be reckoned with, and her sacrifice did not go unnoticed. Mike and Chris were so grateful to give back to her and host many family gatherings where she was able to sit back and enjoy her time with family. Anybody who knew her knows she wouldn’t want any tears shed over her. Instead, close your eyes, open your heart, and hear that unforgettable laugh. Throw your head back with a joyous smile on your face knowing she was surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her. Wanda made a lasting difference in this world, and that’s how she should be remembered.

The family invites you to attend a Celebration of Life in Wanda’s honor on the evening of Wednesday June 4, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 at: Gretna Historical Society - White House, 209 Lafayette St., Gretna, LA 70053.

The attire is casual, and if you’re feeling inclined, wear your favorite blue, but we all know Wanda would only wear one blue, the only blue. GO HEELS!
