Wilkinson “Willie” Michael Evans, a native and lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of the late Peggy C. Evans. Loving stepfather of Barbara Alfonso, Warren Alfonso, Michael Alfonso and Curtis Alfonso. Son of the late Sydney J. Evans Sr. and Olivia C. Evans. Proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren.

Willie spent a lifetime building a legacy grounded in hard work, creativity, and love. Fishing wasn’t just his profession—it was his passion. Whether commercial fishing or casting a line for fun, he loved being on the water. He found joy in working with his hands, repairing what needed fixing or dreaming up new projects. He was, truly, a DIY builder at heart. He was most content when surrounded by loved ones. He loved with quiet strength, and built a lifetime of memories—one fish, one project, and one family gathering at a time. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Rd., St. Bernard, LA. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
