Andrew Louis Hatupis

Our dear husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Andrew Louis Hatupis, peacefully fell asleep on February 23, 2024, in Chandler, Arizona. Andrew was born October 8, 1936, to Louis Andrew Hatupis and Bertha Tripelas Hatupis in Elko, Nevada. He worked from a young age in the family shoe repair and retail business. He graduated from Elko High and joined the US Navy where he proudly served for over 5 years.

After the Navy, Andrew moved to Salt Lake City and attended Westminster college where he obtained a Business degree. He worked for Hercules Corporation for over 25 years spending much of his free time volunteering for the Greek Orthodox Church of Salt Lake City where he served on the Parish Council and helped to maintain the church facilities for many years. He annually volunteered at the Salt Lake Greek Festival.

He was a proud member of AHEPA and rarely missed a regional or national convention. It was through AHEPA that he met his wife Elaine S. Perparos. The two were married Nov. 2007 at St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church in Phoenix, AZ. He then moved to Arizona to be near Elaine’s family and was an active member of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church where he attended every Greek Festival assisting Elaine who was often in charge of food for the event.

Andrew is survived by his sister Mary H. Kapos and family in Utah, stepchildren Dimitri, Maria and John Perparos and families in Arizona. He was a loving family man and enjoyed his many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren who absolutely adored him. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine who passed on April 9, 2021. He will be sorely missed.

A Viewing will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, from 5-8pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Blvd. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 2716 Dobson Road, Chandler, AZ. Interment at Valley of the Sun Cemetery beginning at 1:00 pm.
