AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Bonnie Jean Johnson

4 avril 1939 – 12 décembre 2022
Avis de décès de Bonnie Jean Johnson
AUX SOINS DE

Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery

Bonnie Jean Johnson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away on December 12th after a long battle with cancer. She was 83 years old.

She was born to Lionel and Bonnie Pickhaver in Chicago, on April 4th, 1939. Bonnie attended Calumet H.S., where she met her future husband, Bill Johnson, on the first day of school. Bonnie earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Michigan, where she was an Alpha Delta Pi sorority member. After graduation, Bonnie married Bill, and they spent 50 years together before Bill succumbed to ALS in 2011.

They moved to Arizona in 1966, where Bill began his dental practice in Scottsdale. Together, they had two children - Todd, born in 1965, and Kristin, in 1968.

Over her lifetime, Bonnie volunteered her time by teaching Sunday School and volunteering at her children’s schools. She was also a leader for her children’s Boy and Girl Scouts troops. In 1977-1978, Bonnie and her family hosted a foreign exchange student from Japan who became an unofficial family member for many years to come. In addition, Bonnie was very active in the Refugee Resettlement Program for southeast Asian refugees in the 1980s.

Bonnie’s faith was an integral part of her life, and in 1987, she surrendered her life to her Lord and Savior. She taught women’s bible studies and was passionate about God’s word throughout the remainder of her life. As Bonnie liked to say, “The desire of my heart is to bring glory to my Lord and Savior.”

In addition to her two children and their spouses, Bonnie is survived by her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
