

Burt Kinniburgh was born on August 19, 1938, in Rock Springs, Wyoming and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 27, 2026 in Chandler, AZ. Burt was the second son of David and Gertrude (Sprowell) Kinniburgh.
He grew up in Rawlins, Wyoming where he attended Rawlins High School. When he was young, he spent summer in Rock Springs, Wyoming with his grandmother. While attending high school he worked at the Ferris Hotel and Restaurant. After graduation he went to work as a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad before going to the University of Wyoming. During the summers he worked in Rawlins at Smyth’s Department Store. After graduating he went to work as a CPA for Harold Rand. During his life he worked for Carbon County Hospital, Sinclair Oil Company, Pasco and Atlantic Richfield Oil Company. At the time of his retirement he was the Corporate Administrative Manager for Sinclair Oil Company, which had returned to the original name after various sales and mergers over the years.
While working at Smyth’s Department Store, he met Sandra Hickman and they were married on July 1, 1961. On May 11, 1962, they were blessed with a daughter, Truda. Sandy passed away suddenly in April of 1977. On January 27, 1979, he married the love of his life for 47 years, Patricia McKnight. Pat adopted Truda in 1990.
Burt and Pat moved to Chandler, AZ, when he retired, he spent his days painting, playing golf, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He had many great memories of the fantastic trips that he and Pat took. He enjoyed their time spent in Sanibel, FL shelling, walking on the beach and relaxing. When they weren’t traveling, they spent winters in Chandler and summers in San Diego, CA. They shared all their wonderful adventures and homes with family and friends.
Family was the most important thing in Burt’s life. He was always there for them through joyous times, celebrations, sad and difficult times. His love was unconditional.
He is survived by his wife Pat Kinniburgh of Chandler, AZ; daughter Truda (Vivian Green and daughter Aleece McCutcheon) Kinniburgh; sister Connie (Don) Brinkman. Nephews Scott (Jan) Kinniburgh: Donald (Amanda) Brinkman; James Brinkman. Nieces Linda (Jamie) Spillane; Lori (Susan Pendarvis) Kinniburgh; Jonnie (Cody) Wright; Stephanie (Kevin Daugherty); Kathy (Justin) Misener; Wendy (Paul) Wescott; Cindy (Tim) Koch. Great-Nephews J.B. (Allison) Spillane; Colin (Angela) Spillane; Philip Whittaker; Andrew Whittaker; Cody Kinniburgh; Tyler Misener; Andrew Misener; Chance Stevie; Wyatt Wright; Ethan Brinkman; Christopher Wescott; Jonathan Wescott; Mason Koch. Great-Nieces Catlin Whittaker; Annie Stevie; Rochelle Stevie; Avery Brinkman; Rachael (Tim) Brinkman-Hamiton; Nicole (Evan) Watson; Brittany Brinkman; Leanna Wescott; Morgan Koch. Also survived by many Great-Great nephews and Nieces and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by mother Gertrude Kinniburgh; father David Kinniburgh; brothers Bill Kinniburgh and John Kinniburgh; father and mother-in-law Dan and Kay McKnight.
