Catherine Turk Lillig

Catherine Lillig, age 88, of Tempe, AZ, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, closed her eyes in this life and opened them in the glories of Heaven, on Friday, July 4, 2014. Born November 27, 1925 in Wylam, Alabama to the late Bartel Y. and Katherine (Kotnik) Turk, Catherine was the seventh of nine children. She was married to George Victor Lillig, Jr. on November 4, 1943 and they lived in Chicago, IL until 1977 when they moved to Tempe, AZ. She and George loved and raised four children, George V. Lillig III, Alan R. Lillig (Linda), Kathleen A. Ramirez (Rick), Catherine Landis (Jim). Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, George, by her parents and seven of her siblings. She is survived by her children as well as 10 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and by her sister, Sylvia Chytla.

Catherine lived her life with an overflow of love for her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and created many unique and tasty dishes. Catherine was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of needle work. She was a gentle and kind soul, always quick to do service and help anyone in need. She was a genuine person who truly loved and cared for all. She will be missed and treasured. Until we meet again, God gets to have you in His keeping, we get to have you in our hearts forever.

Family and friends may visit after 4:00 pm and are invited to attend 5:00 pm Funeral Services on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248
