

Celia Carmela Gaviria Iparraguirre, a cherished, faithful, and devoted soul, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on November 26, 1930, in Lima, Peru. Celia moved to the United States in 1961 after marrying her husband, Segundo A. Iparraguirre, and made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Celia primarily worked as a hairdresser in the San Fernando Valley, California, where she dedicated herself to her craft. Her career was marked by her commitment and skill, earning her the respect and admiration of her clients and peers.
Celia was a devoted mother to her three sons, Carlos A. Iparraguirre (Betty), Javier P.M. Iparraguirre, and Guillermo F. Iparraguirre (Patricia). She was also blessed with three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Jennifer, and Brooke, and three great-grandsons, Talon, Landon, and Logan. Her extended family in Peru remained close to her heart, as well as a close knit circle of family here in the United States.
A woman of many talents, Celia's love for swimming was well-known. She would immerse herself in the ocean for hours, finding joy and peace in the water. She only joined a gym for the sole purpose of using their pool. Her culinary skills were legendary, with dishes such as tamales, anticuchos, ceviche, arroz con pollo, and lomo saltado, along with her famous aji, delighting family and friends. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose love for her family was unparalleled.
Celia was a longtime resident of Arleta, California, where she was an active and beloved member of the community. Her presence was a source of warmth and kindness to those around her.
Celia's family wishes to express their gratitude for the countless memories shared with her family and friends, especially her very close knit circle of girlfriends. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
