

Celia G. Mata, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family.
Celia was born on August 18, 1942 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. She married her beloved husband, Jose M. Daniel, on June 24, 1960. Together, they built a loving home. Celia dedicated her life to her family and found immense joy in raising her children: Jose M. Daniel, Jr., Jennie (Daniel) Jimenez, Gloria (Daniel) Romero, Miguel Daniel, Francisco Daniel and Enrique Daniel.
She cherished her 15 beautiful grandchildren: Jessica, Celina, Joey Jr, George, Andres, Claudia, Mikey, Ruben, Adrian, Lizette, Eric, Jazmin, Stevie, Giovanni and Marlene.
And adored her 12 great-grandchildren.
Celia’s caring heart was a true inspiration. She lifted those who surrounded her with her sense of humor. Her compassion and generosity were felt by all. Celia lived an amazing life, anchored by her profound love for her family. She always made time to celebrate milestones and holidays. She was a constant source of encouragement.
Celia is survived by her children and their spouses; her 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, her brother, Salvador Gonzalez, her sister, Bertha Gonzalez; her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Delia Gonzales, her brother, Ramon Gonzalez, her husband, Jose Daniel, her second husband, Daniel Mata, her daughter-in-law, Christy and her grand-son, Joey Jr.
Funeral Services:
A celebration of Celia’s life will be held at Mesa Baptist Church, 2425 S. Alma School Road, Mesa, AZ 85210, on January 3rd at 12:00 PM. Refreshments will follow for those who can attend. Celia will be flown to San Diego, California for internment.
