He was born April 5, 1938 in Peabody, MA to the late George and Helen Angelakis. Charlie graduated from Peabody High School in 1955 and attended the University of Southern Illinois. He married Angelina Giardi in 1960, and they lived together in Peabody, MA, before relocating to FL in 1993 and then AZ in 2002.
Charlie was a successful businessman who worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. Early in his life, he learned his incredible work ethic by delivering the newspaper throughout Peabody. He owned several restaurants, a liquor store, and a satellite communications business. After retirement, Charlie became an avid golfer and became affectionately known around town as “The Muffin Man” for his frequent deliveries of homemade muffins to his many friends and acquaintances. Generous of heart and spirit, he was quick with a smile and full of energy and life.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Angel; two children: Greg Angelakis and Faith Bender of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Diane Angelakis; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Bender; four grandchildren: Charles R. Angelakis, Stephanie Spears, Charles J. Bender, and Eleni Bender; and two brothers: Peter Angelakis of Lake Mary, FL and Teddy Angelakis of Salem, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, Chandler, AZ.
