Christine Ann Byars

Christine “Chris” Ann Byars died at age 71 on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona. She was born on May 4, 1953, in Gloversville, New York.

Chris loved music, nature and watching reruns of old tv sitcoms. Her love for animals was enormous and she never met a dog that she didn’t form an instant and mutual bond with.

Christine studied art at Arizona State University when she was younger and never lost her amazing talent for drawing and sketching beautiful pictures. She came from a very large family where she stood out for her quick wit, sharp sense of humor and genuine gratitude and appreciation for the time she spent with others.

Chris will be remembered as a selfless, kind, humble person, who always thought of everyone else more than herself. Her love for her family and friends was immeasurable but there was no one she loved more fiercely than her son, Dustin and her three grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, and Layla.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents, Oran and Pauline Shear, her grandmother, Mary Shear and 2 of her sisters, Patricia Kaufman and Donna Tornquist.

She is survived by her son, Dustin Byars, his wife, and their three children, Jacob, Joshua and Layla; her 5 sisters, Bonnie, Linda, Becky, Missy and Ellen; and her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, May 9th at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler, AZ. 85248
