David Louis Gelen

David Louis Gelen, 69, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on February 28, 2025. He was born in Minnesota. He grew up in Crookston with his parents Louis and Vera Gelen and his sister Lori. David first attended Bemidji State University before he moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University where he received his bachelor's degree. David worked in retail as a manager for Kmart for most of his career. His work brought him to California where he met Lucila. In 1985, they married in California. They lived in several states before calling Arizona home. This made David very happy as he enjoyed his time at ASU and desired to call Arizona home. David enjoyed sports very much. An athlete himself, he played hockey and golf growing up. He enjoyed watching all sports both live and on tv. As a proud Sun Devil, he enjoyed going to cheer his hockey and football team at ASU. He also had the opportunity to cheer for his very own Sun Devil when he attended Jonathan’s graduation at ASU. David is survived by his wife Lucila, his son Jonathan David, the Ramirez family, and Kmart friends. David was loved by his friends and family and will be truly missed

A visitation for David will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248.
