Dean Edward Creger

Dean Edward Creger passed away on January 30, 2015. He died peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Valley at the Dobson Hospice Home.Dean was born in Des Moines, IA to Mae (Devine) and Ivor Creger. He graduated from North High School the summer of '43. He joined the Marine Corp Nov.2, 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge in March '46, he attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA and received his Bachelor of Science in education. On Aug.16,1947 he married Elizabeth Ann Rosburg. They had two children: Diane and Dwight. Dean and Elizabeth moved to Ackeley, IA where he taught history and coached high school athletics. The family moved to Des Moines and Dean worked as an adjustor and safety engineer for FEMIC Ins. Co. He ended his insurance career in Chicago, IL for Mills Mutual Ins. In Nov.1988 he and Elizabeth retired to Sun Lakes, AZ where he enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and walking their dog, Maggie. He actively participated in Boy Scouts of America and the Masons. Dean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Ivor, brother Dwight and grandchild Kelsie. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his children Diane (Steve), Dwight (Donna), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, IA.
