

Dorothy Jean Randall , 81 of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away on March 12, 2015.Dorothy was born July 1, 1933 in Chicago, IL to John and Alma Buechner. She was the youngest of 3 children, with older siblings, Elaine and John. She spent all of her school years in Chicago and was working as a secretary when she met Gilbert Randall at the USO while he was stationed nearby in the Air Force. They were married October 23, 1954, and moved to Dallas, TX where Bert had taken a job with AT&T. Daughters Linda Jackson (currently of Dallas, GA) and Laura Harper (of Chandler, AZ) were born in Dallas and son Michael (of Egg Harbor Township, NJ) in Kansas City, KS. The family then moved to Huntsville, AL in 1963 and to Silver Spring, MD in 1966. Dorothy and Bert came to Sun Lakes in 2004. As the children grew, Dorothy was involved in PTA, Girl Scouts, and a fan at their sporting and special events. She taught Sunday school and/or sang in the choir at most churches they attended, and had leadership positions in Lutheran Church Woman at the local state level, delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years, and tutored for the county literacy program for a number of years. She was a board member for 12 years of the Silver Spring chapter of Aglow International, a Christian woman’s organization, and VP of Financial Development for the Maryland South Area of that organization. Dorothy worked Part time as a church secretary for 27 years. Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed time with her grandchildren, Eric and Traci Harper, and Shayna, Andy and Amy Jackson. Her greatest joy over the years was being involved in Bible studies, retreats and conferences that aided her spiritual growth. Dorothy and Bert had been members at First Baptist Church Chandler since 2007. She is survived by her husband Bert, for 61 years, 2 daughters, 1 son, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church- Chandler, 3405 S. Arizona Ave. Chandler, AZ. At 10:00AM Saturday, March 21, 2015. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley- Phoenix, Samaritan’s Purse, or Phoenix Crisis Pregnancy Center.
