A quiet man with not so many words, but held great knowledge and loved deeply. Duane passed early last Wednesday morning in his sleep. Duane fought a brave battle with Alzheimer’s over the last eighteen years and did so with a strength and fortitude like no other. His biggest fear was not remembering who his family was. Duane won that battle and lovingly kept his family, not only in his heart, but in his mind.
Duane is survived by his three children Ronald Walker, Gary Walker and Barbara Wilson, along with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind a sister Bess Terrell and two brothers, Charles and Clifford Walker and beloved sisters and brothers in-law that were as close to him as his own siblings. Duane was predeceased by his parents Ray and Mary, sister Violet and three brothers Ernest, Delbert, and Merle along with his beloved wife of more than 30 years, Nora Pearl.
His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved playing video games and just hanging out with them. Duane looked forward to his family reunion each year where he would camp and fish with his siblings, their spouses, and generations of nieces and nephews.
He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and so much more. He will be greatly missed.
A service to honor Duane and his 20 years of Air Force service will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary on August 11. The viewing begins at 10 AM with a memorial and grave side service to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Duane's name.
