

Dwight Lippe, 81, of Queen Creek, AZ, passed away on March 29, 2018, in Chandler, AZ. He was born in Cloud County, Kansas, on April 2, 1936. Dwight graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School. He married Bernita (Bernie) Colton on August 15, 1954. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ft. Hays State College. Dwight began his teaching career in 1958 teaching math at a high school in Holyrood, Kansas. He was given a full-ride scholarship to complete his Master’s Degree at Oregon State University in 1962. In 1963 he began his 35-year career as a Math Professor at Eastern Oregon College (now Eastern Oregon University) in La Grande, Oregon. In 1970 he received his Ph.D. degree from Oregon State University. Dwight and Bernie spent a year in Malaysia while on sabbatical in 1979. They enjoyed traveling not only in the United States, but went to many countries as well. He was an Oregon Hall of Fame Awardee with a lifetime membership of the Oregon Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In 1994 he retired from his full-time professorship. Dwight and Bernie moved to Arizona and Dwight continued to teach one quarter a year until he fully retired from Eastern Oregon University in 1998. During retirement Dwight enjoyed restoring his collection of John Deere tractors from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Dwight and Bernie continued to travel. They were members of the Gilbert Vineyard Community Church. They had an inner-healing ministry and helped many people. After Bernie’s death in 2012, Dwight started attending the Vineyard Church in Queen Creek. He enjoyed spending time with his family in Arizona and Kansas. Dwight is survived by his daughters Tammy Kleck and Cyndi Hirsch (Jack); grandchildren C J Kleck (Melody), Ryan Kleck (Lauren), Kaelie Murray, Chelsie Talcott (Jonathon), Drew Morris; great-grandchildren Ada, Jed, Stevie, and Sloane Kleck, V Murray, Huxley and Hazel Talcott, and Zaira Novotna; sister Wanda Lindsay (Bob). He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernie, and his parents. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Gilbert Vineyard Community Church.
