Edith grew up in Yonkers with her four siblings: brother Douglas Hudgston, and sisters Jean Houston, Joan Pisoni, and Irene Hudgston. She was athletic and sporty and enjoyed spending time with her sisters and close friends. She captained the girls’ softball team at Gorton High School in Yonkers and graduate in 1941.
Edith married a childhood friend, Joseph Lang, and began their life together as a Marine Corps family. Together Edith and Joe traveled the country and raised five beautiful children. They settled in Levittown, Pennsylvania where Edith kept a welcoming home and thriving garden for forty years. After Joe’s passing, Edith moved to Chandler, Arizona in 2000.
She lived a full life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was caretaker of many pets throughout her life and always found joy in the antics of her beloved dogs and neighborhood birds. As an avid sports fan, she could often be heard cheering loudly for her favorite baseball and basketball teams.
Edith will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness in her children, Mark (Pat) Lang, of Sugarloaf Key, Florida, Nancy (James) Christiansen, of Chandler, Arizona, Edith (Ted Benscoter) Lang, of Buckingham, Pennsylvania, Kevin (Pam) Lang, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Russell (Alicia Cardenas) Lang, of Denver, Colorado, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
