

Gerald Edward Wakeley of Maricopa, Arizona passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 2, 2019. Born in Ticonderoga, New York, he was raised in Warrensburg, NY. He was a graduate of Warrensburg Central School and earned an associate degree at Albany Business College, Albany, NY. He worked for a while in Albany but later joined the Medtronic team in Tempe, Arizona as a technician. He worked here until his retirement in 2009. It was in Arizona that he met the love of his life, his wife Barbara who survives him. They were married nearly 28 years at the time of his passing. He is also survived by his sister Carol Wakeley and her husband Stanley Mudzinski, his daughters Julie Blatz and her husband Mark, Joy Dugan and her husband Tony, daughter-in-law Muazzez Wakeley; grandchildren Casey Blatz, Destiny Lawrence, Emily Dugan, Kelsey Blatz, Kloey Dugan and Stanley Wakeley; and great grandchildren Maximus and Arya Quaranta as well as numerous extended family members.
He is predeceased by his parents Gerald Robert Wakeley and Eunice Lavery Wakeley, as well as his son Sean Wakeley.
Jerry was known as a quiet man with a great, dry sense of humor. He was a prankster since boyhood, adults and children alike loved to be around him. In his younger days, he was an excellent bowler and surpassed his parents’ efforts by bowling a perfect game. In Arizona he found a love for golf.
Jerry will be missed by all but leaves happy memories for all those who knew him.
