Hortense L. French

On August 10, 2011 we said our last goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and mother-in-law. Hortense Lydia French was born to Manuel Ortiz Lorona and Herminia (Mejia) Lorona in Yuma, Az on February 1, 1923 to a family of 4 Lorona siblings. We will remember her love of dancing, whistling while she did housework, her love of movies, novellas, soap operas, big band music and all our shared stories of the past. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rita Lorona Huling, brother Lambert Lorona, ex-husband Ernest R. Munoz, father of two of her daughters and grandson Trenton Mark Wright. One of her proudest accomplishments was her volunteer work with Lupus Organization and the dear friends she made there. Hortense's sense of humor and strength lives on in her seven children: Daughters; Gloria Brooks (Tom) Micheal Maysonave (J.C.), Rosina French (Michael Reichling), Cia French and Lydia Burk (Jim), sons Harry J. French (Sigrid) and Ned French (Carri). 14 grandchildren and 4 great grand children will miss their "cool" grandmother. She is also survived by sister Amelia "Chuchi" McMorris, brother Manuel Lorona and the father of 5 of her children, Alfred Robert French MD. We were all referred to as her "favorite" child, in- law or grandchild. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Covington, LA.
