He was born January 13, 1928 in Copperhill, TN and spent his youth there actively pursuing his love of all sports.
At the age of 17, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country in the last year of WWII. After college he moved to AZ where he worked as an accountant for Phelps Dodge Corporation. Later, he served as Comptroller for National Car Rental in Phoenix.
He was an avid tennis player and won several local tournaments. He became a private pilot and flew throughout Arizona and Mexico. He loved Arizona and during his 60 years here he explored the state with those he loved. He had the unique ability to make anyone he met feel comfortable. Nothing made Jack happier than enjoying the beauty of deserts, mountains, streams, forests, and sunsets, or watching a desert monsoon roll across the valley.
He is survived by daughters Pamela Terry Barbey (Peter), Oley, PA and Patricia Terry Shobe (Richard), Mount Juliet, TN; grandson Matthew Terry Barbey, Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters Amy Shobe Patterson (Drew) and Kate Shobe Sevier (Slade), Nashville, Tn; four great grandchildren; brother William P. Terry, Jr. Atlanta, GA; sister Lillian Summerson, Ashvurn, VA.; step-children Joyce Nolan (Ed), Velton McKinley and Sean McKinley, Wimberly, TX.
