Jacquline Lois Yost (84) of Sun Lakes, AZ completed her earthly journey and was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, Jackie will be missed by all who experienced the genuine love and compassion she had for others.
Jackie is survived by Dean, her adoring husband of sixty-five years; four sons in Arizona – Randy (Dawn) Yost, Gary (Margieann) Yost, Brady (Jane) Yost and Jeff Yost; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two brothers - Dean Will in Black River Falls, WI and Dennis Will in Philadelphia, PA.
The center of Jackie’s universe was her family. She treasured time spent with her family and relished the opportunity to bring the family together - celebrating birthdays, hosting the holidays or having sleepovers for the grandchildren.
Jackie was also a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills, WI and Desert Cross Lutheran Church in Tempe, AZ.
Jackie was born on February 26, 1928 in Dousman, Wisconsin to Chester and Olga Will. She was raised in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Whitewater High School in 1945. After graduation, Jackie traveled to Arlington, TX to visit her aunt, and while there, she met her partner for life, Dean Yost. On September 6, 1947 Jackie and Dean were married. For the next sixty-five years, Jackie and Dean were inseparable, sharing their love and commitment for each other and serving as an inspiration to their family. In 1949, Jackie and Dean moved to Wisconsin, where they raised their four sons, while living and working in Milwaukee, Whitewater, Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills.
Upon retirement, Jackie and Dean relocated to Sun Lakes, AZ to be closer to their family. Jackie loved everything about Arizona – even the heat. She especially marveled at God’s beautiful creations – the sunsets, the shadows on the mountains, the Grand Canyon and even those “funny, crooked trees”. For the next 25 years, Jackie lived a very active life in Sun Lakes, making new friends, staying active in the community, hosting visitors from out-of-state and mostly, just spending time with Dean and the “kids”.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM, Saturday, December 22nd at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248. Donations may be made to Desert Cross Lutheran Church Worship and Music.
