Janet Darlene Timmerman

Janet (Jan) was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI, on September 20, 1936, the daughter of Percy and Mildred (Jorns) Newman. She attended the University of WI-Whitewater, where she met her beloved husband, Herb. They were married on June 28, 1958 in Sturgeon Bay, and enjoyed 56 memorable years together, before Herb’s passing in 2014. Jan taught business subjects at Appleton High School (now Appleton West) for several years. After raising her children, she was employed by the Fox Communities Credit Union.

While living in Appleton, Jan was a member of several organizations: Civic League, AAUW, Y’s Menettes, Chalice Circle of the King’s Daughters, and was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. After moving to Arizona in 1994, Jan enjoyed many years as a member of the Islands Women’s Club, as well as her lifetime membership with the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. With the sorority, she was most proud of her Golden Violet status.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Deane and Nelle Timmerman, husband Herb, brother Jerry and his wife, Marge. Jan is survived by sons David (Iryna), Jeff (Mary), and daughter Ann (Randall); grandchildren Jennifer (Brandon), Kathryn, and Caleb; and great-grandchildren Ben, Sophia, and Alex. She is further survived by brother Jim (Carol), sister-in-law, Barbara Timmerman, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, on Wednesday, July 2, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 739 W Erie St, Chandler, AZ, 85225; with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church memorial fund; or to Thema Health Services Foundation, 1725 E Osborn Rd, Phoenix, AZ, 85016.
