Joe was a NAVY aircraft engine mechanic in the Korean war and received four medals of honor for his service in the military; National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal & United Nations Service Medal. Due to his fascination with aviation, he pursued a position at Allied Signal Aerospace where he worked until he retired as an Aircraft engineer.
Joe was also an avid angler and loved the great outdoors. He could catch fish like nobody’s business. He was an explicit lover of animals and for some odd reason he always had a Kitty cat nearby wanting his attention.
Joe will forever be remembered and missed by his wife of 17 years Bonnie Gladden. They met at a singles group at Bethany Community Church and were married 4 months later. Joe always said it was Bonnie’s blue eyes that drew him to her. Survived by his children: Richard, Teresa, Lonnie and Elizabeth Stepchildren: Lisa, Kathy, Heather, Todd, Mindy and his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A private service will be held on Friday, November 9th at 9:30 AM at The Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his favorite charity at https://my.SmileTrain.org
