John W Miller, resident of Mesa, Arizona since 1969, moved to Heaven on May 2, 2019. John was born in Princeton, Indiana on July 9, 1927. During his high school years, John worked in a feed mill in Princeton. He was drafted into the US Navy at the end of WWII and served as a Signalman aboard the USS El Dorado at San Diego. For several years the family lived in Southern California where John worked in the aerospace industry. He loved aircraft of all types and helped build A4Ds, DC8s and the XB-70. After moving to Mesa, John worked for Motorola, Talley Defense Systems, Bashas Markets and Allied Signal Corporation in Tempe.
John was an active member of the Mesa First Church of the Nazarene where he faithfully served on church boards, taught Bible classes, sang in choirs and attended camp meetings. He was an inspiration and encouragement to his family and friends. He enjoyed bowling on the church league, roller skating, Dbacks games, travel, camping, hunting and fishing. John was also a history buff and spent many hours studying information related to people, places and things he loved, including in-depth studies related to the Bible.
John is survived by two sons, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many friends he made throughout his life. His memorial service will be held in Fountain Hills at 10:00 AM on June 22, 2019 at North Chapel, 17210 E Amhurst Drive.
