

Mike, as he was known by his friends and family, was born on May 22, 1939 in Santa Monica, California. He served in the Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Army National Guard of California in his early years and then joined the Los Angeles Fire Department in 1963 until March 1997 when he retired with the distinguished role of Captain II.
Mike enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, skiing, scuba diving, camping and traveling, but most of all enjoyed spending time watching his grandsons participate in various sporting activities as well dabbling as a gourmet cook.
John Michael Wigfield was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Nancy Wigfield and is survived by his wife Renate Wigfield, his two children Pamela Blackburn (husband Kevin) and Steven Wigfield (wife Victoria) and his children thru marriage Carmen Steck (husband Mark), Ellie James (husband Ken), Paeter Garcia (wife Joan) and 11 grandchildren: Tyler, Tanner, Derek, Bricyn, Addiyson, Alaina, Jacqueline, Jeffry, Matthew, Michael and Ella.
Mike will be remembered for not only his great contribution to society, but also as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His zest for life, dry wit and adventurous spirit will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery on Saturday January 25th at 3pm. In lieu of flowers please consider sending a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of our beloved Mike. https://act.alz.org/site/Donation
