

Joseph Carl Hawkins

Joseph Carl Hawkins was born in Earlington, Kentucky, , a small town in the western part of the state. He was one of six children raised by Rose and Earl Hawkins. Joe and his family were members and faithful attendees of the Earlington, Kentucky Disciples of Christ Church. Joe attended public schools in Earlington and graduated from high school in 1952.
Upon Graduating from high school, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force. His Air Force career took him to many places, Albuquerque, NM, Korea, Germany, Massachusetts, Vietnam, Florida, Delaware, Turkey, and Louisiana.
It was during his time in Germany, that he met Annemarie, and they were married on October 21st, 1960. This is also the day that he adopted Bernice, and they became a family.
In 1975, Joseph retired from the Air Force, and our family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Joseph’s first job, after retiring, was that of an EMT. After several years, doing this job, he returned to school, to become a Respiratory Technician, working at Phoenix Baptist Hospital until 1989, when he retired.
Joseph was a very Loving husband, father and Opa. He Loved His Lord, His Family and His Country.
Joseph’s favorite saying was “It Could be Worse!”
Joseph died on December 12, 2014, slipping quietly into Heaven, while sleeping. He is survived by his wife Annemarie, daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Mark, grandsons, Scott and Carl, great granddaughter, Lexus Berry, brother David & Kristin Hawkins, sister, Rose Marie Hawkins, brother James & Brenda Hawkins and extended family of nieces and nephews.
Joseph will be laid to rest at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Arizona.
