He was born on May 25, 1985, the eldest of 2 children to Jeffrey Paul and Nancy Faye (Cole) Scherer in Rockville, Maryland. He grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Coral Springs, Florida. He graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and later graduated from Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Working as a caddy at Whisper Rock Golf Course, he had a love for the ocean, fish and coral reefs and loved golf, having a 2 under par handicap, and he was a PGA professional.
Joshua is survived by his parents, Jeff and Nancy Scherer; sister Jackie Scherer; grandparents Howard and Betsy Scherer, grandmother Gerry Cole, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, at 1 pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, followed immediately by a graveside service at Valley of the Sun Cemetery.
