
June Bernhardt, 81, of Sun Lakes, AZ passed away surrounded by her family at her home, following a hard fought battle with cancer. June was born June 5, 1931 in Lynn, Colorado to Guy Emry and Mary A. (Coons) Thompson. She graduated from Partridge High School, Partridge, KS in 1949.
June was extraordinary in that she always offered her love and support, making the world a better place for those less fortunate to know her. Her greatest gift to her children was her unconditional love and joy in them. She was the best mother anyone could wish for and we are eternally grateful for the privilege of calling her Mother.
She is survived by: husband Don; two sons, Scott Hall of Sun Lakes, AZ and Marc Hall, Sedalia, MO; four daughters, Tawna (James ‘Skip’) Burnett of Sun Lakes, AZ; Connie (Dudley) Havens of Topeka, KS, Penny (Marlin) Crouse of Topeka, KS and Dawn Bernhardt of Mesa, AZ; brother LaVon Thompson of Hutchinson, KS; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
June is preceded in death by her parents, sisters JoAnn Epperson Lockman and Pat Wooledge; brother Bob Thompson.
Funeral will be held at Sun Lakes Community Church in Sun Lakes, AZ. Burial will be at Valley of the Sun Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Sun Lakes Community Church, Sun Lakes, AZ, and Hospice of the Valley, 2020 E. Woodside Ct., Gilbert, AZ and First Baptist Church, Topeka, KS. A second service will be held at 11:00 a.m., June 15 in Topeka, KS at First Baptist Church.
