

Lorraine M. Scorza entered heaven on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. She was born in South Heart, ND (near Dickinson) on February 16, 1922. As a teenager she and her family moved to Chicago, IL, where she finished high school, and met her sweetheart, Arnold Scorza. They were married January 25, 1940. Lorraine worked for AT&T as a telephone operator. They lived in Chicago until August, 1945, when they moved to Asheville, NC, where Arnold taught Science at Ben Lippen Boys School and Lorraine ran the food service department. In 1955 they returned to the Chicago area, where she again worked for AT&T then in 1958 moved to Villa Park, IL. After retiring from their respective jobs they moved to Papua New Guinea as short term missionaries. After returning to the states, Lorraine and Arnold moved to Rio Rico, AZ, building a home there and living there for 9 years, being very active in the Baptist church. They then moved to the Phoenix, AZ, area, finally purchasing a home in Dreamland Villa and residing there for many years. While living in Mesa, they were very active at Grace Community Church in Tempe, AZ, enjoying their “Early Christians” Sunday School Class, and the Senior Adult Group “XYZers”. Lorraine loved to cook and entertain. She was very active in neighborhood gatherings, loving to get together with everyone. 9 months after Arnold’s death in 2008, Lorraine suffered a stroke and was admitted to a Sr. Care Home for 7 months, followed by a 3 year stay at Mesa Good Shepherd Assisted Living. Due to severe health problems she spent the last months of her life at Dr’s Choice Assisted Living in East Mesa.She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, all of her brothers and sisters, and her mother and father. Lorraine is survived by her four children, Miriam (Alfred) Meyer, David (Jackie) Scorza, Kenneth (Judy) Scorza and Richard (Judith) Scorza, 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
