

Lorraine Gladys Woys, 96, passed away November 4, 2020, while under Hospice care in Chandler, Arizona, of causes incident to age. She was born in Los Angeles, California on January 16, 1924, to Earl Archibald Young and Gladys Bessie Harris. She moved to Arizona at the young age of 6 weeks and spent her entire life in the Grand Canyon State. Her largest influence growing up was her Grandmother Mary Edna Harris and her extended Harris Family. Lorraine lived an active life in downtown Phoenix and excelled in school and was named Valedictorian of her junior high school and later graduated from Phoenix Union High School. During the war she worked as a civilian office manager at Luke Air Force Base until she married her first husband Glen Bates. Glen was serving in the US Navy. Glen died in 1944, leaving Lorraine a young widow with a 2-year-old daughter, Linda Marie. Lorraine married Walter Woys Jr. on August 1, 1949 and was happily married 69 years. When the opportunity arose, she and Walt purchased a service station in Globe Arizona. They grew from owning and operating a Blakely Service Station to expanding to an Oil and Gas Wholesale Jobber (Woys Oil and LP Gas Co.) with up to 7 service stations and a home delivery propane company. Lorraine enjoyed playing card games, bingo, and spending time with her family. Upon retirement, Walt and Lorraine moved to Chandler, Arizona. She is survived by her sister Barbara Baskin, her sister in laws Wanda Luna, Almeda Weaver and Wick Kain, her children, Walter Woys III (Kathy), James Woys (Denise) and Linda Enders. Her grandchildren, Tiffany Woys, Chantel Woys, Jason Woys, Jennifer Greening, Justin Woys, Rhonda O'Byrne and Lorrie Andrade. Her great grandchildren, Errol and Savaea Woys, Aiden, Austin, and Cole Greening, Jake and Josh O'Byrne, Destiny Norcross and Zack Andrade. Three great-great grandchildren, Riggin and Renly Norcross and Lason Andrade. Private services will be held at the grave site.
