

Martha Ann Farley - Lt. Col., U.S.A.F., C.A.P., age 62, passed away November 6, 2010 in Gilbert, AZ following a year-long battle with cancer. A native of Syracuse, NY, she is the daughter of Olive Shoemaker and the late Grant Shoemaker. After raising her three children, Martha became actively involved with the Civil Air Patrol, rising through the ranks to become Lt. Col. and Commander of the Casa Grande (AZ) Composite Squadron #213. She attained her private pilot's license during her years with the C.A.P., all the while encouraging others to higher ranks through her outstanding mentorship. Martha's life was about others much more than about herself.
Martha is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jim Farley; their children, Shelly, Bradley and Trevor (Erin) Farley; her mother, Olive Shoemaker; a sister, Jane Naylor; three brothers, David Shoemaker, Paul Shoemaker and Chuck Shoemaker; she was predeceased by one brother, John Shoemaker.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 15, 2010 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ 85248, www.valleyofthesunfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Casa Grande (AZ) Composite Squadron #316, 3225 N. Pinal Avenue, Casa Grande, AZ 85122 preferred.
