Martha Helen Morris Rogers

Martha 'Helen' Rogers, 89, passed away Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center in Tempe, AZ. She was born December 28,1923 in Atlanta, Georgia to Henry Colton Morris and Ava Ann Orr Morris. She married Wendell 'Speed' Rogers on May 29,1952 and he survives.

Also surviving are her daughter Ann Rogers of Lakewood, CO, grandchildren: Alanna Tanner-Chojnacki, Lyle Tanner, and Leilani Tanner, and 5 great grandchildren; Andrus Tanner, Austin Tanner, Roman Chojnacki, Lyndell Tanner, and Henrik Chojnacki.

Helen's mother, Ava Ann Orr Morris, father, Henry Colton Morris, sisters, Virginia Schillinger Kenny and Mary Lynn Summerour, brother, Robert Morris and daugher, Sheryl 'Dolly' Diane Rogers preceded her in death.

Helen was a long time resident of the Phoenix area where she settled to raise her family in 1956. She graduated from Commercial High School in 1943, was a Corporal in the Marines and was a school secretary at both East and North High Schools.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends and was always there to help others. She also adored her cats.

She was a loving wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Helen will be remembered for her infectious laugh, always offering a helping hand, unconditional friendliness, amazing baked beans and goofy shenanigans.

The burial service will be Friday, August 30th at 10 am at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery
