Mary Virginia Ridey

Mary Virginia Ridey passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was 97 years old. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles H. Ridey, in April, 2008. She is survived by her children, Michael (Jeanne) Ridey of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; Suzanne (Robert) Addy) of Cave Creek, Arizona; Jean Ridey of Phoenix, Arizona; and Roger (Alice) Ridey of London, England. She was blessed with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and was a well-respected elementary school teacher for many years at Woodview School in Grayslake, Illinois. In 1978, Charles and Mary retired to Phoenix and enjoyed golfing, traveling, gardening, and entertaining frequent visitors from the North during the winter months.

Mary continued to read the newspaper from cover to cover each day and was knowledgeable on topics of politics, current events and sports up until her death. She was a devoted Diamondbacks fan as well as Arizona State University athletics enthusiast. Her ability to converse on virtually any topic will be greatly missed.

Thank you to the staff at Chandler Regional Hospital, Villa Jean in Chandler, and Hospice of the Valley for the loving and tender care which they provided.

Together again with her beloved husband of 67 years. Rest in peace.
