With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Michael Lawrence Spencer, who left us on March 3, 2025, at the age of 44. He is deeply mourned by his wife, Linda Christine Mendoza Spencer, and their beloved 8-year-old daughter, London Presley Spencer. Michael's family and friends remember him as a man of profound character whose impact on those around him was immeasurable.
Born in Portland, Oregon, in 1981, Michael was the son of Paul and Virginia Spencer. When he was three, his family moved to Mesa, Arizona, where Michael spent much of his youth. He graduated from Westwood High School, where his academic promise was evident early on. Michael went on to serve an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Venezuela from 1999 to 2001, an experience that shaped him profoundly and fostered a deep sense of duty, compassion, and service to others.
While continuing his education after returning from his mission, Michael met Linda, the love of his life. They married, beginning a partnership that would last a lifetime. They built a family together, and Michael's dedication to them was unwavering. He pursued higher education with determination, earning an MBA focusing on Hospital Administration from Arizona State University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned a spot on the Honor Roll, a testament to his academic diligence and intellect. While living in Texas, Michael was actively involved in singing with the large Millennial choir. Coming from a musical family, he had a deep love for singing, especially as a way to offer praises to the Lord. Michael bravely battled a rare form of cancer for two years. Before his diagnosis, he was a successful Ironman participant, demonstrating his strength and determination in both his athletic pursuits and his fight against cancer.
Throughout his career, Michael built a reputation as an exceptional professional. He was recognized for his exemplary work ethic and ability to bring excellence to everything he touched. His career led him to a prestigious role with a worldwide company in Texas, where he managed a team focused on helping hospital systems secure and maintain their financial health. His move to Highland Village, Texas, in 2017 marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career and his life with his family.
Michael's legacy is one of kindness, integrity, and excellence. He was a peacemaker whose intelligence and honor commanded the respect of everyone he met. Whether in his career or personal life, Michael set an example of how to live with purpose, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right. His loss leaves a profound void, but his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Linda, and daughter, London, and his parents, Paul and Virginia Spencer, as well as his wife’s parents, Rita and Bill Lewis. He leaves behind his siblings, Tara Lee Spencer Kear (with her husband, Mark), Steven Lee Spencer (with his wife, Erika), and Scott Lincoln Spencer (with his wife, Ashlee). Michael was also deeply loved by his wife’s sisters, Merisa and Gary Golding, Gina and James Kieley, and their families, addition to extensive friends who will always hold his memory dear.
