Mitch was born April 12, 1959 in Queens, N.Y., to Norman and Barbara Lawitz. He graduated from
Arizona State University, where he met the love of his life, Lisa, whom he married on November 17, 1984.
Prominently known in his line of work, Mitch has an extended history in the bead industry working with
semi-precious stones and Native American jewelry. Starting out in his father’s garage in 1974, he
established Beads Galore with his father and brothers in 1986, and later opened his own business,
Mitch’s Beads, with his wife in 2014. His legacy will live on through his family, friends and the thousands
of people he connected with during his lifetime.
If you knew Mitch, you would know he had a passion for cowboys, the Dallas Cowboys. If Mitch wasn’t
explaining why your team was inferior, he was proudly stating why the Cowboys were superior.
When Mitch wasn’t boasting about his favorite football team or working, he enjoyed spending time with
his family, traveling, discovering his appreciation for red wine, and the occasional casino night out. A fan
of cheesy Hallmark movies (although he’d never admit it), Mitch was a family man with a big heart who
put others first, and lent a helping hand with no questions asked.
He was a proud Jewish man known for his playful banter, his New York charm and his generous and
compassionate spirit.
Mitch is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara, and his father, Norman. He is survived by his wife,
Lisa, his three children, Ashley, Meghan, and Amber, his five grandchildren, Natalie, Noah, Carissa,
Daniel, and Carlos, and his brothers, Jim, Bernie, and David.
No funeral service will be held during this time. Donations, flowers or condolences may be sent to Mitch’s
Beads, 854 East Williams Field, Suite #101, Gilbert, AZ 85295.
