Myra Joyce Buckner

Myra Buckner (nee Gordon) passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, five days shy of 82. Myra is survived by her husband Ron Buckner; children, Andy Buckner and Jeffrey (Laura) Buckner; sister, Eileen Nedwich; and grandchildren, Seth, Kate, and Lindsay Buckner. Myra was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Loretta Gordon.

Myra, or Bubbe and Bubbe Cats, was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University. She later perfected her Bubbe cooking skills (but not her baking) after marrying Ron and moving to the Baltimore area where they proudly raised their two sons in the Jewish faith as longtime members of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. Myra also was a member of Hadassah in Baltimore. Myra grew her love for Israel when she, Ron, and the boys made Aliyah to Israel, and she instilled the same love of Judaism, Israel, and country in her grandchildren. Myra always looked forward to her weekly continuing Jewish education through the East Valley Jewish Community Center and weekly games of Texas Hold’em and Canasta. Myra retired to the Phoenix area with Ron 18 years ago.

Family and friends will gather for minyan on Tuesday (October 22) at 7:00pm, and Wednesday (October 23) at 4:30pm, at Ron and Myra’s home located at 25108 South Mohawk Drive, Sun Lakes, Arizona 85248.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Myra’s memory may be sent to Tunnels to Towers, or to a veterans or first responder charity of your choice.
