Perry married Doris Chase on June 25, 1946 in Correctionville, Iowa, where they farmed
until 1955 when they moved their family to Phoenix, Arizona. Perry worked as a
machinist and retired from the Garrett Corporation and later moved to his favorite lake,
Lake Powell. He loved to travel and even more to explore. He spent many family
vacations on the Colorado River and its many lakes. He floated the Green River and
island hopped in the Sea of Cortez. He and Doris traveled by motorhome from Alaska
and the Yukon to southern Mexico and Belize. He took his grandchildren across the US
visiting family and friends. After moving to Florence, AZ in his later years he enjoyed
exploring the desert in his Willys jeep.
Perry and Doris celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary this past summer with family
and friends. He and Doris enjoyed hosting Happy Hour for many friends and neighbors
where Perry shared his love and gift for telling stories and jokes. Most of them he would
even share with his grandkids, creating many lasting memories that will be carried down
throughout the years.
Perry’s family finds comfort in the fact he lived a long and full life. He will live in our hearts
forever.
