Raymond Stanley Schuhrke - age 86, passed away in Chandler, Arizona on Friday, October 22, 2010. The son of the late Raymond W. and Frances Tworek Schuhrke, he was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 25, 1924. After high school, Raymond enlisted in the Army and was stationed in California before being shipped out to war. While visiting a skating rink in southern California he met the woman who would be his wife of 66 years, Ruth Grooms. During the three years he was serving in the U.S. Army during WW II, Raymond and Ruth wrote to each other daily. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; their two children, Barbara (Paul) Esterly and John (Nancy) Schuhrke; five grandchildren, Kenneth (Barbara) Esterly, Robert (Sharon) Esterly, Jeff (Emily) Esterly, Thomas (Bree) Schuhrke and Leslie Vera; 13 great-grandchildren. Anthony, Austin, Cole, Sammy, Hailey, Jake, Eric and Heather Esterly, Trevor and Nathan Schuhrke, and Anissa, A.J., and Kayla Vera.
