

He was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 30, 1930 to Horatio and Hazel (White) Buxton. Richard later graduated from Lansing Central High School, class of 1947. He served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1954 as a Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) on the Destroyer USS Ellison DD 864.
Richard married Alice M. (Lott) Buxton in 1958. Alice preceded him in passing in 1991. Richard married Rose A. (Malburg) Buxton in 1992.
Richard worked as an asbestos worker for Heat and Frost Insulation for over 30 years. He spent over the last 17 years of his career working for Owens-Corning Fiberglass and was a member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Local Union 47.
He had a passion for his family, boats, planes, motorcycles, and classic cars: especially his Red 1972 Oldsmobile 442 convertible. Richard also enjoyed attending classic car shows and auctions. He regularly attended the Phoenix Open golf tournament. He was an animal lover. Richard was a kind and generous man who made friends easily and always saw the best in people.
Richard is survived by his Spouse, Rose Buxton; Daughter, Joyce Buxton; Stepdaughter, Connie Mead; Stepson, Kevin Barnes (Karen); Grandchildren, Ian Barnes and Aidan Barnes; Stepdaughter, Kellie Tyler; grandchildren, Grant Tyler and Rebekah Tyler; Stepdaughter, Kim Grimwood (Kyle); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice; and his siblings, Doug Buxton and Joyce (Buxton) Grise.
