Richard W. Hughes of Chandler died peacefully Sept. 28, 2015, after a long battle with Lewey body dementia. He was born April 29, 1940, in Los Angeles, Calif. He lived most of his life and spent his schooling years in San Francisco, Calif. He was in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Richard was the “world’s best fisherman.” He taught his children and grandchildren to fish. Show Low Lake was his favorite fishing spot. There was always lots of fun and laughs. He was also a livid 49er fan. Win or lose, he never gave up on them. Richard lived by example, honesty and hard work. He worked for Foxworth Gailbrath Lumber for several years while living in the White Mountains until they closed their doors. He is survived by wife, Sandy of 31 years; one sister; five children; nine grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Richard will be missed deeply by so many, many people that loved him dearly.
Remember Me
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
but remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt,
and given me relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me,
not as I am now, but as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you all,
and look on with a smile.
Understand in your hearts,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
