Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Sherrill Ann DiMauro (Wade) passed peacefully to be with our Lord on Christmas night, December 25, 2022, at the age of 85. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. We are so comforted in knowing that she is gracing heaven and reunited with her husband Sebastiano “Subby”, her son Frank, two of her brothers Bill and Jim, and many other loved ones that left this earth before her. She was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska in 1937, then spent her earlier years in Omaha, NE until moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1984.
Sherrill had an infectious laugh and a feisty wit about her that we will all remember with such love. Her family was everything to her and she was always there for each and every one of us with loving support, kind words, and generosity of heart. She was crafty making special keepsakes for her loved ones over the years. Sherrill was a history enthusiast, and a formidable Trivia opponent while also keeping up on current events, reading the newspaper front to back each morning and watching the world news in the evenings. She was a patriot and supported several veteran causes throughout her years. An avid fan of the Arizona Cardinals in her later years, she had the nurses turn on the games for her when she had to be in the hospital engaging others on the floor. The family dogs also found her their most special person as she slyly slipped them treats under the table or from her stash in the cupboard daily.
Aside from raising and loving her family of 10 children between her and Subby, Sherrill ran a mortgage office during her career years and there they also called her Mom. She retired at age 62 which freed her up to dedicate the following decade and 1/2 first to her husband and then to her volunteer work which included Neighbors Who Care who honored her for her service, Meals on Wheels, and the Food Bank well into her mid/late 70s. She was such a selfless soul, ALWAYS putting others before herself.
Her survivors include 6 daughters, Christine (Mike), Laura (Brad), Connie, Leighanne, Gina (Mike), Amy, and 3 sons, John (Gayle), Jim (Shirley), David (Jan), 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren that continue to be born into our family and bless our lives. She is also survived by her brother John and sister Barbara. We all ask that you remember her with the love she brought to us.
Services will be held on March 16th at the Valley of the Sun where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Subby as we celebrate her life with family and friends from across the country. Your memories shared will be cherished and in lieu of flowers, please consider Mom’s wishes for donations to be made to Neighbors Who Care https://neighborswhocare.com/ or to the Disabled Veterans of America https://secure.dav.org/
