Terrance Michael Woody

Terrance Michael Woody, beloved father, brother, teacher, and coach, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona, at the age of 63. He was born on September 18, 1961, at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, to Charles and Nancy Woody.

A lifelong learner and dedicated educator, Terrance graduated from Chandler High School in 1979 before earning his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University in 1985. He went on to complete two master’s degrees in education and teaching from Northern Arizona University. For 39 years, he shaped the lives of countless students as a teacher, spending the majority of his career at his alma mater, Chandler High. Beyond the classroom, he made a lasting impact as a coach for both football and tennis, sharing his love of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Terrance had a passion for all sports and was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan for many years. He also enjoyed teeing it up on the golf course with his closest buddies. In recent years, he found his greatest joy in fishing, often spending his happiest moments by the water with a line cast and a peaceful smile.

He is survived by his children, Caroline Woody and Michael Woody; his brothers, David Woody and Jeff Myhrum; and his sister, Trudy Currie. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Woody; his birth mother, Nancy Woody; his stepmother, Yvonne Woody; and his sisters, Babette Peral and Stephanie Woody.

A service to honor his life will be held on Friday, August 29th at 1pm, Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 East Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona 85248.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Terrance’s memory to the Arizona Game and Fish Department (azgfd.com) to support conservation and the sport he loved, or to the Chandler Education Foundation (chandleredfoundation.org) to continue his lifelong commitment to supporting students and teachers.

Terrance’s legacy lives on in the lives of his family, his students, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
