Thelma Pickett Steele

Thelma Pickett Steele 89 of Chandler, Arizona passed away on October 26, 2011. Thelma was born on November 19, 1921 in Reserve, New Mexico. She married William Roberts on September 11, 1937. William passed away in 1970. Thelma went on to marry Dr. John G. Steele on July 31, 1971. John passed away in 2001. Dr. Steele and Thelma retired in Chandler, Arizona. Thelma became very active with the Lady Elks and Republican Women, where she held many offices. Thelma was a very elegant and extremely intelligent lady with so many talents. She loved to cook and was an expert at it. Her endeavors and accomplishments in life, are too many numerous to mention. She was truly an achiever. One of her great joys was playing cards with her girlfriends. She loved it. She suffered untold agony the last five years of her life. Her spirit never once faltered, she faced it bravely with no complaints ever. She kept going as long as she had a breath left. Thelma is survived by her daughter Ann, step-son John and his wife Martha, step-daughter Michelle and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Your suffering is finally over, only peace forever more. A memorial service will be held, Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley of the Sun Mortuary Chapel, Chandler, Arizona 85248.
