Allen Sutherland Bashore Sr.

CHAPIN - A memorial service for Allen Sutherland Bashore, Sr., 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at Chapin United Methodist Church with inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary on Monday. Memorials may be made to Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave., P.O. Box 237, Chapin, SC 29036 or any veterans’ support charities or cancer research association. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Bashore was born September 16, 1925, in Charleston, SC, and passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013. He was a son of the late Allen G. T. Bashore and Sara Elizabeth Easterling Bashore. Mr. Bashore was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II Pacific Theatres as a Motor Machinist Mate. He was a member of Civitans, VFW, American Legion, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, and the University of South Carolina Alumni Association.

Surviving are daughters, Pamela Bashore Martin of Shelby, NC, Patricia Bashore Martin (Russell) of Chapin, Lisa Bashore Burch (Rodney) of Prosperity, Lynn B. Pry (Michael) of Greenville; son, Allen S. Bashore, Jr. (Jennifer) of Anderson; brother, Daniel E. Bashore (Joan) of Mollusk, VA; grandchildren, Joseph W. Clark IV, Trisha C. Martin, Christopher G. Martin, Matthew E. Pry, Griffin R. Bashore and Sutherland E. Bashore and great-granddaughter, Layla K. Martin. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Boozer Bashore in 1997 and also by his second wife, Mary Ruth Brigman in 2012 and by his infant son Walter Bashore in 1962.
