Debra Jane Ailes was born on June 20, 1954 in Irmo, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Doris Weed Monts and the late John Clayton Monts. She was a 1972 graduate of Irmo High School and an active lifelong member of Salem Methodist Church in Irmo.
Debra was passionate about caring for animals and children and it was the love of those things that were the guiding principles in her life. She enjoyed a rewarding career as veterinary assistant for the Coldstream Animal Hospital network, before becoming a full time mother to her beloved son, Dustin Thomas Ailes. She was a dedicated school volunteer and baseball mom, as well as, proprietor of her own Domestic Maintenance business. Debra served as a caregiver in the nursery of Salem United Methodist Church where she nurtured children of Salem and also was the primary caretaker of her mother Doris during her golden years. Debra was very involved in organizing the annual Weed Family Reunion and served on the decorating and greeting committees for many years. Her love of animals; especially dogs, led her to start her own Canine Companion Company “Precious Paws” and to become a foster mom for the pet rescue organization Homeward Bound.
Debra was predeceased by her parents and her older sister, Diane Monts Coker. She is survived by her son, Dusty Ailes (wife Stacey Nicolls) of Chapin and her five precious grandchildren (Thomas David Ailes, Ava Marie Ailes, Generosity Dax Key Ailes, Jacob Connor Organski Ailes, and Jayden Marie Organski Ailes). In addition, she is survived by her older brother, John David Monts of Irmo (son’s Glenn and Clay Monts), and her sister Diane’s daughter, niece Kim Stutts of Irmo (husband Brandon Stutts and son’s Blair and Bryson Stutts). Debra loved her family with her whole heart and was always willing to go the extra mile to help them.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at White Oak Nursing facility and the Bernardo Hospice Team; both of which are located in Newberry, SC, for the wonderful care they provided to Debra.
