Dorothy W. Waites

CHAPIN – Dorothy “Dot” W. Waites, 84, wife of the late John “Jack” Waites, Sr., passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Dot was born on March 8, 1933 in North, SC. She was a graduate of North High School and the Baptist Hospital Nursing School and served as a nurse. She was active at St. Thomas Lutheran Church and in the American Rose Society. Dot was an avid reader and an award winning quilter and rosarian. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, of 58 years and her 6 siblings. She is survived by her children, Johnny (Melanie), Rick, Susan, Martha (Hugh), and Nancy; grandchildren, Melissa (Kyle), Patricia (Evan), Paul, Tommy and Emily (Jesse); great-grandchildren, Lucia and Ezra Jack; numerous nephews and nieces; and her beloved cat, Sam.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 215 St. Thomas Church Road, Chapin, SC, 29036. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Hagerty conducting the service. Memorials can be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
